NEWS TRANSLATION Strategies and Techniques

This book has been compiled and prepared as a practice manual for trainee news translation, mass-communication, as well as translation students. The idea of this book came from the author's personal experience teaching several translation courses. The author has always faced the problem of having to gather texts from different sources to represent the different text types and topics that students should cover and should be made familiar with in their different translation courses and in preparation for their careers on graduation. One of these is to do with the translation of the news. In this course students are familiarized with news style, format and other salient features specific to this genre. On the advice of some colleagues and the need widely perceived in a number of Arab countries for this type of book, the author also decided to put his practical experience on paper in book form so that it is made available for translation students, teachers, and trainers.

Bank Translator

This manual was prompted by a need widely perceived in all Gulf Countries, as well as other Arab countries where English is heavily used in banking and business sectors, for a handbook that guides inexperienced and novice bank translators in their work. No doubt many books and manuals have been produced on translation into and out of English and Arabic, as are many specialized dictionaries. But, a manual specifically intended to tackle business and banking texts of the kind included in the present book has far been conspicuous by its absence..
